A major release

After going through numerous dry runs in lower environments for many months, it is time to push this “release” to production. Something I have been dying to do for a long time.

Yes, I am talking about Monday, April 18th 2022, when three of the Bridgers (Vini is an ex-Bridger) are running together in the 126th Boston Marathon.

2019 Cambridge half marathon

Ready for production
We have trained hard, we have run long runs, we have repeated this numerous times during the past few months. The go-no-go meeting was held a couple of weeks back and after our successful 21 miles run, it was decided that this is a GO!

Release version 3.0
Even though I have done 2 marathons in the past, this is different and very challenging as compared to the ones I did in the past. To me this a major release with not only new and exciting features, but also equivalent to a major platform upgrade. Because this is one of the 6 greatest marathons in the world.

Deployment plan
This should be executed just like it has been tried again and again these past few months. We won’t try anything new, we won’t eat anything we haven’t tried during practice runs. This will take much longer than our practice runs so just be patient with us while we execute our plan. If everything goes well, this will last for 4 hours and 20–30 minutes.

Rollback plan
Things could go wrong, we may get cramps, we may fall, we may get super exhausted but please know that there is absolutely NO rollback plan. If things don’t work out as we hope to, the plan is to execute it slow, take a pause and push again, but there is no going back and no quitting. We haven’t developed any rollback scripts so until we cross the finish line, this journey will continue.

Can we get all hands on deck please?
This is no joke, this is some serious stuff! Getting through the 4 Newton hills starting at 16 miles is going to be challenging. Pushing through the Heartbreak Hill is going to be a tough one but that’s why we have our friends Bart and Lisa ready to push us around mile 20. Go ahead and download the BAA Racing App and track us please (Ajay Goel, Vinicious Isola & Irene Lionetta) . We can use all your positive vibes and energy you can send our way.

Hands on help
Want to be a part of this journey? Want to support my run? I am just a few hundred dollars short of my fundraising goal for Boston Spaulding. Oh and if you can be on the Marathon route to cheer me up, that would be huge! Do let me know if you plan to be there.
